Beta test on PS4 begins on Friday
CAPCOM began streaming a trailer on Wednesday for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the new expansion for the Monster Hunter World game. The video highlights the monster Brachydios.
The official Monster Hunter YouTube channel also streamed a video on Monday about the game's upcoming beta. The beta test will run on PlayStation 4 from August 30 to September 1 and on Xbox One from September 2-4. The new monster Velkhana will appear in the beta.
The expansion will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6 and for PC via Steam in January 2020. The expansion will feature a new story that begins after the events of the main game, as well as new quest ranks, locales, monsters, moves, and equipment.
Monster Hunter World launched worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018, and shipped 5 million copies worldwide (including digital sales) in its first three days to set a new franchise record. CAPCOM then launched the game for PC last August. The game has shipped 12 million copies worldwide as of May 10. The Monster Hunter series has cumulatively shipped 54 million copies worldwide as of March 31.
